FOR EVERY JOURNEY
A waiver to clear the path forward.
When a past issue – unlawful presence, a prior removal, certain conduct — stands between you and a visa or green card, a waiver can forgive it and let you move forward. What an immigration waiver lawyer brings is the hardship case and the record that give a waiver its best chance – exactly the work Onward Immigration does.
IS THIS YOU?
You may be in the right place if...
The unlawful-presence case
You’ve been told you’ll trigger a bar if you leave for your immigrant visa, and you need the I-601A waiver before you go.
The blocked applicant
Your green card or visa was denied or paused over inadmissibility, and you need it forgiven to continue.
The family-separated
A waiver is the one thing standing between your family and finally being together legally.
The hardship-strong
You have a qualifying relative who would suffer real hardship without you, and you need that proven persuasively.
The Path Forward
How we build your case
I
Diagnose the problem
We identify exactly what makes you inadmissible and which waiver, if any, applies to it
II
Build the case
We develop and document the extreme hardship to your qualifying relative – the heart of most waivers – into a compelling record.
III
File & advocate
We prepare and file the waiver, respond to anything raised, and push for the approval that clears your path.
WHAT TO EXPECT
Flat fees, full attention.
Every waiver engagement is a single flat fee, agreed before we begin – no meter, no surprises. As a deliberately small firm, your case is handled by an attorney from first call to final decision, never passed down a chain.
GOOD QUESTIONS
Immigration waiver questions, answered.
What is an immigration waiver?
A waiver asks the government to forgive a specific problem – like unlawful presence, certain misrepresentations, or some criminal grounds – that would otherwise block a visa or green card. Each ground has its own waiver and rules, and not everything can be waived. We confirm which bar applies and whether a waiver is available.
What's the difference between an I-601 and an I-601A?
The I-601A is a provisional waiver for unlawful presence, filed and approved before you leave the U.S. for consular processing – so you don’t risk a long separation. The broader I-601 covers more grounds and is often filed from abroad. Which one fits depends on your bar and path. We determine the right one.
What is "extreme hardship" and why does it matter?
Many waivers require showing that a qualifying U.S. relative (usually a spouse or parent) would suffer extreme hardship if you were denied. It’s more than ordinary separation; it weighs health, finances, family, and country conditions together. Building this case well is decisive. We help you document hardship that meets the standard.
How long does a waiver take?
It varies by waiver type and current processing times, and can take many months. Because a waiver usually sits inside a larger green-card or visa process, timing affects the whole plan. We give you a realistic estimate and sequence the waiver so it doesn’t stall the rest of your case. USCIS publishes current estimates through its processing-times tool at egov.uscis.gov/processing-times.
What happens if my waiver is denied?
A denial isn’t always the end. Depending on the waiver, you may be able to appeal, file a motion, or refile with a stronger record. Understanding why it was denied is the first step. We assess the decision and advise whether to challenge it or rebuild – and how to give the next attempt better odds.
Where can I check my case status?
You can track any pending case with your receipt number through the USCIS Case Status Online tool at egov.uscis.gov/casestatus. We also monitor your case and flag anything that needs a response, so nothing slips.
How can an immigration waiver lawyer help?
An immigration waiver lawyer pinpoints exactly what’s making you inadmissible, confirms which waiver applies, and builds the extreme-hardship record that decides most cases – before a misstep makes things harder.
